| Obverse description | The obverse bears a central two-line inscription reading MANCHESTER HOUSE in the field, surrounded by a circular legend along the periphery reading T. S. FORSAITH MANCHESTER HOUSE AUCKLAND WHOLESALE AND RETAIL DRAPER, separated by small ornamental stops. The lettering is rendered in bold relief Roman capitals against a flat field. A beaded border runs along the inner edge of the rim, framing the entire design. The overall composition is typographical in character, with no figurative imagery, consistent with the commercial trade token tradition of the colonial period. |
