Aanvullende informatie

The Falkland Islands Government began issuing its own decimal coinage in 1971 following the United Kingdom's own decimalization that same year. Prior to that, the islands had used British coinage without any local issue. These earliest Falklands coins — the KM#1 series among them — were struck at the Royal Mint. The half penny denomination was abandoned in Britain itself in 1984, and the Falklands equivalent quietly disappeared from circulation around the same time, making later-date examples within this run considerably harder to source than the opening issues.
