| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device comprising a shield bearing the cross of St George — a plain cross dividing the field into four quarters — rendered with crosshatched shading on the cross arms, enclosed within a pointed heraldic shield of simple outline. The shield occupies the majority of the flan, with no surrounding legend, the design being confined within a border of raised pellets encircling the entire periphery. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hand-hammered production, and the field shows characteristic flatness and flow lines typical of mid-seventeenth-century Commonwealth coinage. |
