The circular legend NORTH WALES surrounds the central device, distributed around the periphery in Latin characters. The overall composition closely mimics the reverse type of the contemporary British regal halfpenny, consistent with the evasion token tradition of imitating official coinage designs while altering the legends to avoid prosecution. |
