| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King Miguel I facing right, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and classical military drapery at the truncation. A prominent laurel wreath crowns the monarch's head, conveying regal authority in the neoclassical tradition. The circumscribed Latin legend reads MICHAEL·I·D·G·PORTUGALIÆ·ET·ALGARB·REX, separated by raised dots, running along the upper periphery from left to right. The date appears in the lower exergual area below the bust truncation. The coin is framed by a toothed border along the full circumference. |

| Reverse description | The Portuguese royal arms displayed at centre within a rectangular shield surmounted by a mural crown of Baroque form, topped by a small cross. The shield features the traditional quinas arrangement — five escutcheons charged with bezants disposed in cross — surrounded by the bordure of castles. The central device is flanked by elaborate symmetrical acanthus and floral scroll ornaments extending to the lower field, where a floral bouquet tied with a ribbon completes the decorative composition. No legend appears on the reverse; the design fills the field to the toothed rim. |
