Obverse description Central field bears the name of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II in Persian-Nastaliq script, divided by a horizontal line with the regnal AH date (AH 12xx) inscribed above. The inscription is arranged across the flan in typical hammered Mughal style, with the legend occupying the majority of the coin's surface. The script is rendered in bold strokes characteristic of late Mughal copper coinage issued under Maratha suzerainty at Jhansi.
