| Beschrijving voorzijde | The field is occupied entirely by the Shi'a Kalima rendered in bold thuluth script, arranged in multiple registers across the coin's surface. The central legend proclaims the shahada — 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God' — with the additional Shi'a formula 'Ali is the Wali of God' below. Surrounding the primary inscriptions, the names of the Twelve Imams are integrated into the design in a characteristic Safavid devotional style. The hammered flan produces an irregular outline, with the inscriptions extending nearly to the rim on all sides. The calligraphy is deeply struck and displays the fluid, overlapping letterforms typical of early Safavid gold coinage. |
