The circular legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1901 appears in the lower field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |

The fraction 1/2 appears prominently above the word MARK in the centre of the cartouche, while the Munich Mint mark D is struck below in the lower lobe of the ornamental frame. A beaded border encircles the entire design. |
