B.H. Mayer's was a private medal and token manufactory in Pforzheim — a city better known for its jewelry trade than its monetary output — that produced notgeld and token coinage for commercial clients throughout the late Imperial and Weimar periods. This piece is a self-referential advertisement token, struck by the firm to demonstrate its own production capabilities rather than to fulfill any municipal or emergency currency obligation. Pforzheim's industrial minting houses competed aggressively for contract work, and sample pieces like this circulated among potential clients as proof of technical competence.
