Mayer's was a private medal and token manufactory in Pforzheim — a city better known for its jewelry trade than its monetary output — that produced notgeld and token coinage for commercial clients throughout the late Imperial and Weimar periods. This piece is a self-referential advertisement token, struck by the firm to demonstrate its own production capabilities rather than to fulfill any municipal or emergency currency obligation.
