The denomination is telling: half a mark was nearly worthless by late Weimar standards, and most municipal notgeld of this type had a circulation life measured in weeks before inflation rendered it irrelevant. Joh. Moll R.-G. was a local Lübeck printer, not a specialist security firm, which is characteristic of the smaller notgeld issues produced entirely within the issuing municipality.
