| Obverse description | Central device consisting of an elaborately interlaced crowned royal cipher of Charles II, formed by two intertwined letter C's surmounted by a large ornate crown, the whole rendered in a foliate Gothic style characteristic of late Habsburg Low Countries coinage. Four decorative foliate or fleur-de-lis ornaments radiate from the cipher into the four quadrants of the field. The surrounding circular legend reads CAROL II D G HISP ET INDIARUM REX, identifying the monarch as Charles II, by the Grace of God, King of Spain and the Indies. |

| Reverse description | Central shield of arms surmounted by a large ornate crown, displaying the combined heraldic devices of the Habsburg territories including Austria, Burgundy, and Brabant, with an inescutcheon at the base bearing the lion of Brabant. The date appears divided in the upper field on either side of the crown. The encircling Latin legend reads ARCHID AVST DVX BVRG BRAB Z, abbreviating the titles Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy and Brabant, etc., typical of the extensive titulature of the Spanish Habsburg rulers of the Southern Netherlands. |
