Reverse description Central device depicts a redesigned Chinese imperial dragon rendered in raised relief, shown in a dynamic coiling posture with clawed feet extended and head facing upward toward the left. The dragon clutches a flaming pearl beneath its body, with scales, whiskers, and antler-like horns rendered in fine detail characteristic of the type 2 Pei Yang Arsenal dies. A circular outer legend in Latin letters reads 'TA. TSING TWENTY THIRD YEAR OF KWANG HSU' along the upper periphery and 'PEI YANG ARSENAL' along the lower periphery, separated by small ornamental stops. The coin exhibits the flat, somewhat crude engraving style associated with the Arsenal's small silver issues. The overall composition follows the standard Pei Yang dragon-type format established for the provincial silver series.
