At the center, the denomination 半角 (Half Jiao) is inscribed in bold Chinese characters within the inner circle. The legends are arranged radially, giving the obverse a distinctive typographic character unusual among Qing-era provincial coinage. | Описание реверса | The reverse features a classic Qing imperial five-clawed dragon rendered in low relief at the center, depicted facing forward in a confrontational pose with outspread claws, a flaming pearl below, and foliate cloud scrolls surrounding the body. The dragon's scales, whiskers, and fierce expression are rendered in the characteristic style of late Qing provincial silver coinage. The upper peripheral legend reads TWENTY SECOND YEAR OF KWANG HSU, while the lower legend reads PEI YANG ARSENAL, both separated by six-pointed star ornaments. The legends are contained within a toothed border consistent with the milled edge of the coin. |
