At the center, the denomination 半角 (Half Jiao) is inscribed in bold Chinese characters within the inner circle. The legends are arranged radially, giving the obverse a distinctive typographic character unusual among Qing-era provincial coinage. The coin is struck within a reeded border with a fine toothed rim. |
