| Opis awersu | This half-jefimok represents approximately one half of a European thaler, cut to serve as a fractional denomination, with the Russian countermarks applied to the obverse field. Two rectangular date countermarks, each bearing the date 1655 in Latin numerals, are struck in the field flanking a central circular countermark depicting a horseman bearing a lance — the traditional Russian equestrian device associated with Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich. The underlying host coin retains visible elements of its original Frankfurt thaler type, including portions of the Latin legend around the periphery. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular outline resulting from deliberate cutting, consistent with the 1655 monetary reform practice of countermarking and halving Western European thalers for circulation in Muscovy. |

| Opis rewersu | The reverse retains the design of the original Frankfurt thaler of 1621, showing a double-headed imperial eagle in the field, characteristic of Holy Roman Empire coinage of the early seventeenth century. Portions of the Latin circumferential legend remain visible along the surviving edge, though incomplete due to the deliberate halving of the host coin. The reeded border of the original milled thaler is partially preserved on the intact curved edge. The surface shows natural wear and toning consistent with circulation use, with the original relief of the eagle motif still discernible despite subsequent countermarking pressure and handling. |
