| Popis rubu | The reverse is divided into four quadrants by a bold long cross extending to the edge of the coin, a design typical of medieval ecclesiastical coinage. Each quadrant contains a heraldic device: the upper right quadrant displays a bishop or ecclesiastical figure seated under an arch, while the remaining quadrants bear heraldic shields and lion passant motifs associated with the arms of the Bishoprics of Valence and Die. A beaded border separates the quartered field from the peripheral legend. The circumferential legend in uncial Latin reads: COMES VALET ET DIES, proclaiming William's comital authority over Valence and Die. The overall execution is consistent with provincial hammered silver coinage of the late 14th century. |
