An inner legend within the beaded circle reads SIGNUM CRUCIS, identifying the cross as the Sign of the Cross. The outer legend, separated by a second beaded border, reads mOnETA CIVITATIS AVRASICE, proclaiming this as the coinage of the city of Orange.
