| Reverse description | Central field depicts the armored equestrian figure of the Pahonia (Vytis), the mounted knight of Lithuania, galloping to the left and brandishing a sword overhead, with a shield bearing a cross on the left arm. The date (1546 on the illustrated example) appears in the lower field within the beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend reads MONETA ⋆ MAGNI ⋆ DVCAT9 ⋆ LITV, denoting this as the coinage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The reverse type is enclosed within a beaded border, with the legend separated by star-shaped ornamental stops, consistent with Vilnius Mint production of the mid-sixteenth century. |
