| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central design features a large cross pattee extending to the inner circle, dividing the field into four quadrants, each filled with lions passant — the heraldic arms of Flanders — arranged in alternating orientation, a motif characteristic of Flemish groot coinage of the 14th century. The cross is bold and well-defined, enclosed within a plain inner circle and an outer dotted border. The surrounding peripheral Latin legend reads LVDO - VIC: C - OMES - FL°AD`, identifying the issuer as Louis, Count of Flanders. The lettering is executed in Gothic script, and the overall die work is consistent with hammered silver production of the Ghent mint under Louis I of Nevers. |
