The cross is bold and well-defined, enclosed within a plain inner circle and an outer dotted border. The surrounding peripheral Latin legend reads LVDO - VIC: C - OMES - FL°AD`, identifying the issuer as Louis, Count of Flanders. The lettering is executed in Gothic script, and the overall die work is consistent with hammered silver production of the Ghent mint under Louis I of Nevers. |
