Joanna of Brabant and her second husband Wenceslas I of Luxembourg ruled the duchy jointly following the death of Joanna's first husband in 1355, an arrangement unusual enough that their co-regency coinage became a defined series in its own right. Wenceslas died in 1383, making this 1382 issue one of the final strikes of their joint reign. Witte 406 is among the more precisely catalogued entries in Alfred Witte's foundational study of Brabantine coinage, published in 1894.
