| Beschrijving keerzijde | Within an inner beaded circle, a crowned thistle occupies the central field, the national emblem of Scotland, surmounted by a small imperial crown consistent with the second coinage type. The thistle head is rendered with characteristic hammered detail, its spiky leaves visible in the field. A Latin legend runs around the periphery between the inner and outer beaded borders, invoking divine protection of the union of England and Scotland. The mint mark appears at the beginning of the legend, and the overall style conforms to the Tower Mint production of James I's second coinage series. |
