| Beschrijving keerzijde | A long cross fourchée divides the field into four quarters, each containing the royal arms: the fleurs-de-lis of France alternating with the passant guardant lions of England, arranged in the traditional quarterly composition of the Tudor period. A beaded inner circle frames the shield, and a decorative outer legend border carries the mint inscription. The circumscription reads CIVITAS CANTORT with the initials T C for Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury, flanking the cross. The mintmark Catherine wheel appears at the legend commencement, and the execution reflects the standard hammered technique of the Canterbury ecclesiastical mint. |
