A beaded inner circle frames the shield, and a decorative outer legend border carries the mint inscription. The circumscription reads CIVITAS CANTORT with the initials T C for Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury, flanking the cross. The mintmark Catherine wheel appears at the legend commencement, and the execution reflects the standard hammered technique of the Canterbury ecclesiastical mint. |
