Obverse description Facing crowned bust of Henry VIII within a beaded inner circle, rendered in the characteristic style of the second coinage. The king is depicted with a broad, frontal visage wearing an ornate crown, with robes visible at the shoulders. A mintmark — the Catherine wheel — appears at the commencement of the Latin legend in the outer field. The circumscription reads HENRIC VIII D G R AGL Z FR, identifying the sovereign as Henry the Eighth, by the Grace of God King of England and France. The overall strike is typical of Tudor hammered silver, with characteristic flan irregularity.
