| 背面描述 | A stylized castle or tower is depicted centrally within a square frame, with small globules or pellets positioned at each corner and on the sides of the square. The architectural motif is rendered in a highly schematic manner, typical of Norman-Sicilian bronze coinage of the late twelfth century. The field is otherwise plain, with no legend or additional inscription present. |

Tancredi's reign was itself a disputed claim — an illegitimate grandson of Roger II who seized the Sicilian throne ahead of the German imperial claimant Henry VI. The coinage reflects the pressure of a kingdom under siege: small fractional bronzes like this were struck in quantity to keep markets functioning as Norman Sicily entered its final years. Henry's forces took Palermo in 1194, and Tancredi had already died that spring, ending the Norman dynasty entirely.
