Reverse description A large, elaborately detailed fleur-de-lis occupies the central field, rendered in the Florentine Gothic tradition with bold, deeply cut petals curling outward from a central stamen. The fleur-de-lis, inherited from the Florentine florin prototype, dominates the flan and is executed in high relief. A circular Latin legend surrounds the device, reading ARAGO REX MAR, identifying Martin I as King of Aragon. The irregular flan edge is characteristic of hammered coinage of the period.
