The fleur-de-lis, inherited from the Florentine florin prototype, dominates the flan and is executed in high relief. A circular Latin legend surrounds the device, reading ARAGO REX MAR, identifying Martin I as King of Aragon. The irregular flan edge is characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. |
