The engraver's signature B. DUVIV. appears on the truncation of the bust. The encircling legend reads LUD. XVI. D. G. FR. ET NA. RE. B D., identifying the king by the grace of God as King of France and Navarre, with the Bearn mintmark designation. The portrait reflects the refined neoclassical style of Duvivier's workshop. |

| Description du revers | An oval crowned shield bearing the arms of France, consisting of three fleurs-de-lis arranged two over one, positioned centrally in the field and flanked on either side by a symmetrical spray of olive branches. The crowned escutcheon is rendered in fine detail, with the crown displayed prominently above. The surrounding legend SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTUM, a biblical phrase meaning 'Blessed be the name of the Lord', encircles the design, with the date 1785 incorporated into the legend. The Pau mint's cow privy mark appears in the exergue below the shield. |
