Obverse description The arms of Zug displayed within an elaborate Baroque cartouche featuring bold foliate and scrollwork ornamentation. The oval shield, centrally positioned, bears the distinctive wavy-barred charge of Zug and is framed by symmetrical acanthus-style volutes extending to all quarters of the field. The coin's border is defined by a continuous pellet or bead rim encircling the entire design. The overall composition reflects the high Baroque engraving style characteristic of Swiss cantonal coinage of the late seventeenth century.
