The Latin motto 'EX ADVERSO DECVS' (meaning 'Honour from adversity') is distributed in the field around the central device. The date is divided at the bottom, split across the lower portion of the design beneath the ornamental base. The whole composition is executed in the high Baroque style characteristic of early eighteenth-century German ducats. |
