A papal tiara or shield device appears in the exergue below, flanked by the value inscription. The encircling Latin legend reads APOSTOLOR: PRINCEPS P· 15, identifying Saint Peter as Prince of the Apostles and noting the pontifical year. The coin is framed by a finely milled border consistent with Roman papal gold coinage of the period of Pius VI. |
