Reverse description Saint Peter, nimbed and draped, is depicted seated facing slightly left, raising his right hand in blessing and holding the crossed keys of the Papacy in his left hand. A papal tiara or shield device appears in the exergue below, flanked by the value inscription. The encircling Latin legend reads APOSTOLOR: PRINCEPS P· 15, identifying Saint Peter as Prince of the Apostles and noting the pontifical year. The coin is framed by a finely milled border consistent with Roman papal gold coinage of the period of Pius VI.
