| Reverse description | Saint Peter, nimbed and draped, is depicted seated facing slightly left, raising his right hand in blessing and holding the crossed keys of the Papacy in his left hand. A papal tiara or shield device appears in the exergue below, flanked by the value inscription. The encircling Latin legend reads APOSTOLOR: PRINCEPS P· 15, identifying Saint Peter as Prince of the Apostles and noting the pontifical year. The coin is framed by a finely milled border consistent with Roman papal gold coinage of the period of Pius VI. |
