| 背面描述 | The reverse features a colorized commemorative design celebrating the Apollo 7 mission of 1968, the first live American television broadcast from space. In the upper field, a detailed color image of the Apollo 7 command and service module is depicted against a space background, accompanied by a representation of the Moon and stars, with the Apollo mission emblem to the right. The lower central field displays a colorized photographic reproduction of the historic television broadcast, showing astronauts aboard the capsule holding a handwritten sign reading 'KEEP THOSE CARDS AND LETTERS COMING IN FOLKS'. A colorized arc of the Earth in blue and white appears along the lower field. The peripheral legend reads 'APOLLO 7' at the top, 'FIRST TV BROADCAST FROM SPACE' along the left, and '1968' along the right rim. |

Apollo 7, launched in October 1968, was NASA's first crewed mission following the Apollo 1 launchpad fire that killed Grissom, White, and Chaffee eighteen months earlier. The eleven-day Earth-orbital flight was considered a make-or-break moment for the program — a failed mission would almost certainly have ended the lunar goal before it began. It succeeded on every technical objective.
Solomon Islands has issued commemorative coinage under Elizabeth II in considerable volume since the early 2000s, with space themes recurring frequently across silver-plated issues marketed primarily to thematic collectors rather than for any domestic monetary purpose.
