Obverse description Central field bears a multi-line Arabic legend reading the ruler's name and title 'al-Mutawakkil 'ala Allah / Sharaf al-Din Yahya', rendered in an interlaced Naskh-influenced script typical of Yemeni Rassid coinage. The inscription is contained within a circular beaded border that follows the irregular polygonal flan. The hammered strike produces a slightly off-centre impression with characteristic uneven relief across the field. The flat surrounding area shows natural die wear and surface granularity consistent with hand-struck silver coinage of the sixteenth century.
