Obverse description Square klippe flan struck by hammered technique on a roughly cut silver planchet. At center, a circular beaded border encloses the arms of Zeeland — a shield bearing a rampant lion emerging from wavy water — surmounted by a cross-shaped ornament or episcopal cross above the shield, flanked by decorative scrollwork. In the upper right field, a smaller secondary circular stamp with beaded border displays what appears to be the Zierikzee town mark. Below the central shield, the date 1575 is rendered in a decorative cartouche with foliate flourishes. The overall execution reflects the crude but purposeful workmanship characteristic of siege coinage.
