Obverse description Armored bust of Philip II facing right, depicted with a short beard and curly hair, wearing a ruffled collar and elaborately decorated pauldron. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance style typical of Netherlandish hammered coinage. A rosette mint mark appears below the bust, identifying the Dordrecht mint. The circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading from the lower left and interrupted by the bust.
