Obverse description Armored and laureate bust of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, facing right, holding an upright sword in his right hand and a bundle of arrows in his left, emblematic of his role as Governor-General of the United Provinces. The effigy is rendered in a bold, late Renaissance hammered style with detailed plate armor visible on the shoulder. A beaded inner circle frames the portrait, separating it from the surrounding Latin legend in the outer field.
