Additional information

The 1932 issue marks the final year of halfpenny-denomination bronze coinage for the Straits Settlements, a British crown colony encompassing present-day Singapore, Penang, and Malacca. By this point the denomination had become largely vestigial in everyday commerce, and mintages were kept correspondingly low. The Straits Settlements themselves were dissolved in 1946, making the entire late George V bronze series effectively terminal issues of a colonial monetary system already in decline.
