Obverse description A crowned Gothic castle with three towers contained within a six-lobed (sexfoil) inner circle, rendered in the late medieval Castilian style typical of the reign of Enrique IV. The central tower rises above two flanking turrets, each battlemented, with the whole composition occupying the field in bold relief. A Latin legend encircles the design between the inner sexfoil border and the outer rim, reading ENRICVS DEI GRAC, attributing royal authority by divine grace. The flan is irregular in shape, as characteristic of hammered billon coinage of this period.
