The lion is shown in profile with detailed mane rendered in the crude but expressive style typical of late 14th- to early 15th-century Castilian billon coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device between the inner quinquefoil and outer beaded border, repeating the obverse inscription ENRICVS DEI GRACIA. The strike is irregular, consistent with hammered manufacture at the Seville mint. |
