The lion is shown in profile with detailed mane rendered in the crude but expressive style typical of late 14th- to early 15th-century Castilian billon coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device between the inner quinquefoil and outer beaded border, repeating the obverse inscription ENRICVS DEI GRACIA.
