| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crowned facing bust of King Fernando I within a beaded inner circle, the crown rendered in high relief with prominent central cross finial. The king's draped shoulders and stylized facial features are characteristic of late 14th-century Portuguese hammered coinage. A mint mark 'P' for Porto appears to one or both sides of the bust depending on the emission. The surrounding field carries a Latin legend beginning SI DOMINVS : MICHI : AIVT, with numerous known lettering variations, contained between the inner beaded border and the irregular coin flan edge. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A long cross pattée divides the reverse into four quadrants, each containing a stylized castle tower, evoking the arms of Castile in allusion to Fernando I's dynastic claims. At the centre of the cross is superimposed the Portuguese royal shield bearing five escutcheons arranged in a quincunx. The composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin royal legend FERNANDVS : REX : PORTVG running in the outer field. The entire design is struck on an irregular flan with characteristic hammered surface texture. |
