The mintmark monogram 'A' over 'P' (for Panama) appears to the left of the shield, and the assayer mark 'ii' to the right, faithfully reproducing the markings of the original 16th-century colonial coinage. The legend MONEDA DE 1580 PANAMA VIEJO arcs along the upper periphery, and the date 2011 is inscribed along the lower periphery. |
