| Popis rubu | Central design depicts a reproduction of the coat of arms of the city of Panama as it appeared on colonial coinage of 1580, consisting of a multi-quartered heraldic shield featuring castles, lions, diagonal bars, and fleurs-de-lis, surmounted by a royal crown. The mintmark monogram 'A' over 'P' (for Panama) appears to the left of the shield, and the assayer mark 'ii' to the right, faithfully reproducing the markings of the original 16th-century colonial coinage.
