| 裏面の説明 | The reverse bears a bold inscription in six lines across the field, reading * PIVS * SEPTIMVS / PONTIFEX / MAXIMVS / MDCCCXVI / B, identifying the issuer as Pope Pius VII, Pontifex Maximus, with the Roman numeral date divided from the mint letter B by a solid horizontal line bisecting the lower portion of the field. A small six-pointed star appears above the legend at the top. The austere, purely epigraphic design is characteristic of Papal States copper coinage of the early nineteenth century. |
