Jersey's coinage has always operated on its own idiosyncratic denominational system — the island divides the shilling into twelfths rather than the twelve pence of sterling, a relic of the old French sol system that persisted long after the mainland abandoned it. The 1923–1926 issue was struck at the Royal Mint during a period when Jersey's coin orders were modest enough to be slotted between larger Commonwealth commissions.

KM#14 saw no significant mintage changes across the two dates in the series. Die alignment on these pieces is occasionally erratic, a known characteristic of the type rather than an error.
