This is the first coin struck for the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman as a distinct monetary issue — hence the uniform KM#1, Schön#1, Cordry SC#1 across every major reference. Faisal bin Turki ruled from 1888 to 1913, navigating persistent British pressure over the slave trade while maintaining nominal independence. The British Indian rupee dominated actual commerce throughout his reign, which likely explains why these small copper fractions saw limited practical circulation and survive with surprising frequency in uncleaned, lightly worn condition.
