Obverse description Central design depicts a panoramic view of the fortified harbor and town of Muscat, showing multi-storied buildings, fortifications, masts of sailing vessels, and rocky coastal terrain rendered in fine relief. Small dhows are visible on the water in the lower field. In the lower central field, the denomination '1/12 ANNA' and the Hijri date '1311' appear as an incuse legend. The circular Latin legend around the periphery reads 'IMAUM OF MUSCAT & OMAN SULTAN FESSAL BIN TOORKY', separated by small dots, all within a beaded border.
